Constitution Party of South Dakota

  • All men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights – that among these are Life, Liberty, the pursuit of Happiness, and the ownership of private property.
  • Government’s purpose and institution are to secure these rights.
  • Government derives its power from the consent of the governed.
  • Government is limited by the principles of freedom found in the laws of Nature and Nature’s God, which should be secured by the constitution.
  • Government actions taken beyond those limitations must be met with resistance.
  • The principles of the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God must form the application and construction of the Constitution.
  • Government’s separate branches of government and the limitations of each are instituted to secure freedom and the rights of individuals and this State.
  • A federal form of government is designed to secure and ensure that State and individual sovereignty and freedom are maintained while this State consents to being in a political union.
  • The United States of America is a union of sovereign states, which possess independent power granted to each by the sovereign body-politic, whereby each state retains complete and absolute sovereignty over all matters not delegated to the federal government.
  • State power is a vital check on federal power, and the state may use its sovereign and independent power to be the voice, and if necessary, the “arm” of the people to implement a common defense against the federal government.
  • The United States Constitution requires that its creation, the federal government, must comply with the Constitution as the supreme law of the land.
  • The federal government and federal laws do not equal, “the supreme law of the land.”
  • The founders and ratifiers of the United States Constitution expected the States to be the active guardians of freedom for their own people and each State has a duty as such.
  • The state’s power of active and passive nullification, interposition and resistance will protect federalism and freedom in America.
  • South Dakota is a sovereign and independent state which can activate the principles of our federal form of government within our political borders, resisting and arresting any attempts from outsiders who would attempt to enslave our citizens.
